As we approach the end of the year we thought it would be good to update everyone about the center. First and foremost, we wish to express gratitude to all the leaders and volunteers that have made our transition to our new building successful. This includes more than fifty people who regularly volunteer to keep the building and the programs working well.
Although we have been in the space for eleven months, there continue to be new additions. During the Fall several Community members led by Corey Needleman, built a garden shed which you have probably seen in the parking lot. Recently Cecelia Schiller, with the help of Damon Rohwer and others, installed a beautiful new altar in the meditation hall. Jennie Ross and Laurie MacLeod have been working for over a year on the parking lot renovation project that will be needing many of the community’s resources in the months ahead. We have recently made some improvements in the basement, however many more are needed. We are hoping some day to be able to have children programs and walking meditation downstairs. Please let us know if you have the time and the construction skills to help make improvements.
As you probably have noticed, we have changed the way we send out email updates to the community. As part of this transition we are asking everyone to update their contact information and to let us know how frequently they want to receive program information from the center. Remember, even if you don’t want to receive the quarterly newsletter via postal mail, we still would like your postal address so we can send you your end of year charitable contribution letter for your tax records and the Annual Community Update. Common Ground does not share any contact information with other groups and we are committed to the ethic of simplicity. We rely on community members to seek out the information they need and to let us know if they have any questions. Our Office Manager, Debbie Norgaard, is now working 16 hours per week.
About a month ago we sent out the Annual Community Update and Building Fund Letter. Please take the time to read through these documents.
You can also download a copy of the Winter newsletter.
On behalf of all the Teachers, Staff and Volunteer Leaders at the center, may all beings have a peaceful end to the year, and a new year filled with insight, compassion and joy.
